Rev. Alex MacLeod to Preach for the Call today!
On this particular Sunday, our final candidate for the post of Sr. Minister will preach for the call! Members and Adherents will receive all necessary information by email or mail.
What does it mean to Preach for the Call?
Preaching for the call is the occasion when a final candidate for the position of Senior Minister presents themselves to the congregation through the activity of leading a worship service and preaching. After a candidate preaches for the call, church members and adherents are invited to a congregational meeting. At the meeting, members have a chance to vote their approval of the candidate, and if approved, members and adherents will be invited to sign to affirm and support the call of the candidate.
We are so grateful for this day!
Over the past 2 years, a Search Committee—comprised of Elder Jim Williams, Elder Eva Aboagye, Eric Brouwer, Emily Davis, Nancy Howard, Christine Park and Interim Moderator Rev. Will Ingram—have requested, received, and reviewed applications from 38 candidates representing a wide range of backgrounds, and abilities. Interviews were conducted with a significant number of those candidates; and three individuals were invited for a second round of interviews. After much prayerful consideration, The Search Committee believes that Rev. MacLeod will fulfill the ministry responsibilities and experience requirements set out by our Session including gifts in worship and preaching, vision and renewal, discipling, and a minimum of 8 years experience in a Senior Minister role.
