Building & Property Committee Update: May 2021

Site Renewal Progress

The Building and Property Committee (BPC) is pleased to share that the schematic design process for the renewal of the main church building has been initiated.  Kearns Mancini Architects Inc., who oversaw the renewal of Knox Church sanctuary, have compiled a top-tier consultant group (mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, structural engineer) to develop the schematic designs.  Once the first draft of the schematic drawings is complete, the BPC will share it with the congregation for input and feedback.

Fellowship Centre Update

In April, it was determined that the Fellowship Centre link (between the gym area and the main church building) was not structurally sound and had to be closed off for public use.  Due to water penetration through cracks in the foundation, the metal joists supporting the floor had significantly deteriorated.  The floor has now been adequately supported from below, and use of the Fellowship Centre can resume.  This issue is another example of the mounting maintenance deficit that we as a Church are aiming to address with the Site Renewal Plan.

Questions about the Site Renewal or our building and property can be directed to Tom Affleck, Entrepreneurial Leader, tom@knoxtoronto.org
