Building & Property Committee Update: June 2021

Fellowship Link Repairs Completed

Significant structural issues with the main level floor of the Fellowship Center link, (the hall and entrance way that connect the Gym area to the Main Church building) have been addressed. Regular traffic can now resume in this space, although occupancy is now limited to 20 people. The structural reinforcement for the main floor of this space required significant shoring & scaffolding in the Fellowship Link basement. A review of this situation by Toronto Fire Services has resulted in us having to close the Main Church basement to the public. As a result, only authorized individuals will be able to access the main Church basement (either by elevator or stairs).

Please note: The Narthex basement washrooms, as well as the Fellowship Center basement, will continue to be accessible to the public.

New Spadina Ave. Sign

Knox Church’s new Spadina Ave. sign has been completed.  This sign has been decades in the making, and we are very grateful to see it come to fruition.  The new sign provides an excellent opportunity to share the life and ministry of Knox Church with our neighbours & wider community.

Sanctuary Live Streaming

A new camera system has been installed on the balcony that will allow Knox Church to provide high quality live streaming of our services & events for many years to come.  We are encouraged that this new equipment will allow more people to take part in the life and ministry of Knox Church.

Schematic Design of Main Church building

Kearns Mancini Architects, in coordination with two engineering firms, is working on the schematic design drawings for the renewal of Knox Church main building.  The intention is to share the results of this work with the congregation in the Fall.

Questions about the Site Renewal or our building and property can be directed to Tom Affleck, Entrepreneurial Leader, tom@knoxtoronto.org
