Building & Property Committee Update | February 2024

Knox is currently working with our development partner Greenwin and their consultant team to host three working group meetings with key stakeholders in the community. These meetings are designed to help us understand and respond to feedback from key community stakeholders on our plan to redevelop portions of our site. Greenwin is planning to submit an Official Plan Amendment (OPA) and a Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA) to the City of Toronto for the developments this Spring. If these applications are approved by the City, we anticipate demolition of the Fellowship Center to happen in early 2025. If the City of Toronto decisions on these applications are negative, and Greenwin elects to appeal these decisions, we anticipate that demolition of the Fellowship Center will happen in 2026. Once the Fellowship Center is demolished, construction of the South side development will begin and is projected to be completed in 2.5 years. The demolition of Knox House and construction of the North side development is scheduled to take place once the South side development has reached substantial completion.

Please continue to keep the site renewal in your prayers. We are eager for God’s will to be done in this important process. An overview of the Site renewal can be seen on the poster in the hallway (just past the elevator), at knoxtoronto.org/renewal and this new project site 630spadina.ca.

The BPC is Sam Johansen, Chris Mudiappahpillai, Channing Sze, Margaret Zhong, Tom Affleck (consulting staff), Martha Brown (Elder Rep).
