Family Faith Formation: Four Resources

For parents looking to enrich the faith of their kids, these resources can be a big help and encouragement. Check them out!

Faithful Families - Traci Smith

This book is an excellent guide to introducing simple, faith-forming practices with your kids throughout the year. It covers a wide range of ages and stages, it is easy to incorporate into everyday life, and gives meaningful suggestions for liturgical holidays.

To Light Their Way - Kayla Craig

This collection of prayers, blessings, and liturgies is a gift to parents who struggle to find the right words sometimes and can find peace and solace in a shared language for praying for their kids. Check out @liturgiesforparents on Instagram for a glimpse of what’s included in this book and more from the author.

I Kid You Not - Erin Moon and Meredith Anne Miller

This is a fairly new podcast (watch for new episodes!) that breaks down Bible stories, covering the pitfalls of how they’re sometimes taught to kids, and offering suggestions of better ways to teach these stories to each age group. It covers issues like how to talk about (or not talk about) graphic or disturbing details with young kids, how to adapt a story to your child’s maturity level, and how to engage tricky questions in a positive way.

Raising Disciples - Natalie Frisk

This book outlines the ways in which parents can model a life of following Jesus with their kids in practical and thoughtful ways. Filled with authenticity, flexibility, humor, and prayer, Frisk outlines how parents can make openings for their children to experience God in their daily lives.
