Community resources in light of COVID-19

While our Sunday services and weekly ministries may be put on hold out of respect for public health authorities’ recommendations for social-distancing measures, we don’t want you to feel isolated or alone!

Staying connected with Knox

Here are a few things you can do to stay connected and updated with Knox during this time of crisis.

  • Follow our social media for encouragement, resources and further ministry updates: Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube.

  • If you would like a phone call, feel free to email pastoral staff, using contact information found here.

  • If you are in need of community care, email care@knoxtoronto.org or fill out our online intake form.

  • Sign up for our weekly email to hear a personal word from Knox leadership and get further resources straight to your inbox.

  • Join our livestream for digital worship on Sundays at 11am (or watch the recording as you’re able) through our Youtube channel.

Ways to gather together digitally

In the midst of this crisis and time of social distancing, we also encourage you to stay connected to those in your community through digital means, such as phone calls, FaceTime, Google Hangouts, or Skype.

Here are some suggestions for ways to combat isolation.

  • Host a group prayer meeting with your Home Church through Google Hangouts.

  • Read through a Bible reading plan with friends, through a free Bible or devotional app, such as the YouVersion Bible app or Proverbs 31 Ministries’ First5 app.

  • Join our Sunday digital worship livestreams, happening at 10:50am on March 22 and March 29. If you have a Youtube account, you can also set a reminder for the start of the livestream so you don’t miss out.

  • If you and your friends have Netflix, you can use the Netflix Party app to watch a movie or TV show together.

Resources and Activities for Kids

Being a blessing to the broader community

Even with social distancing measures, we are still called to be the Church, to be the salt and light of the world (Matthew 5:13-15). You may already have heard about our 200 Acts of Blessing church-wide activity; consider what you can do to be a blessing to each other, to Toronto, and to the world—even from a distance.

Here are a few quarantine-friendly acts of blessing you can do. You can find more in the online version of the 200 Acts of Blessing booklet. Be sure to add your acts of blessing to the tally at blessing.knoxtoronto.org.

  • Call or write to a homebound person—ask Pr. Nick to connect you.

  • Donate to a charity

  • Spend a few minutes on freerice.com, a United Nations Food Program that will donate rice to hungry people for every question you get right on their learning web site.

  • Plant a tree while you search the web. If you search the web using ecosia.org, the search ads generate money for Ecosia. Ecosia uses this income to plant trees in Africa, bringing water, plants and animals back to drought-ridden areas.

  • Lift the spirit of a child through cardzforkidz.org, where you can send cards to hospitalized and/or traumatized kids around the globe.

  • Spin a globe while your eyes are closed. Then put your finger for it to stop. Pray for the country where your finger rests.

  • Read, listen, or watch news and pray for one issue that touched your heart.

If you’d like to help with any community needs, please fill out the below form so our pastoral staff know you’re available!
